Formal Sector

Workers representing the public sector in Sri Lanka are protected by the Establishments Code, whereas workers representing the private sector are protected by their own laws and regulations. However, if they are concerned about their job security, we will provide them with the legal assistance they need to protect their jobs and organize against those threats.

Informal Sector

In the face of issues encountered by workers who are not protected by labor law, do not have good working conditions, and are not entitled to social security, we are constantly committed to working as a union and organizing for labor laws and rights. Simultaneously, we wish domestic workers, who make up the vast majority of our union members, to be the proprietors of lucrative jobs

Migrant Sector

Returnees working as migrant domestic workers make up the majority of our union’s membership. The majority of them are also domestic workers in this country. Our aim is for such employees to be able to work in Sri Lanka under safe working conditions. We also provide counseling to the family members of the majority of our members who work as migrant laborers. Our union provides information to domestic workers and their families on how to go overseas for domestic service and other jobs, as well as how to travel securely while doing so.
